Call for papers
The Institute of Social Studies of Erasmus University and the African Study Center of Leiden University jointly organize a one day workshop on ‘Women’s Bargaining Power and Economic Development’ in the Hague, Netherlands. The workshop aims to bring together researchers in the fields of economics, sociology, anthropology, etc that address issues related with measurement of bargaining outcomes and determinants using qualitative as well as quantitative analysis.
Interested researchers, especially PhD students, are invited to send their papers that address the following topics:
1.
Different factors that affect gender relations and women’s bargaining power in different parts of the world, particularly in developing countries.
2.
The impact of gender relations on household resource allocation behavior, i.e., how does the power balance affect different welfare outcomes such as nutrition, education, health, employment, leisure, etc of different household members?
3.
Theoretical insights into the nature of bargaining and economic development.
Interested researchers should send their extended abstracts (preferably full papers) in pdf form by December 21st, 2010 via email to: [email protected] or [email protected]. Selected participants will be notified by mid January 2011.
