Madden, Mary

Mary’s research for the Project has covered the evolution of online music and video, the rise of social media, and teenagers’ use of communication technologies. Her other research interests include intellectual property issues online, podcasting, online identity management, online dating, and internet use at work.

Mary has been with Pew Internet since the spring of 2002. She holds an M.A. in Communication, Culture and Technology from Georgetown University and a B.A. in English from The University of Florida. Her interest in digital media is fueled by her graduate research and her prior experiences working in music promotion and concert production. Mary is a frequent public speaker and has been interviewed by The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal, and National Public Radio, among others, regarding her research.
