Cameron, Lisa

Lisa Cameron is the Director of the Monash Centre for Development Economics (MCDE). She is an empirical development economist, focusing predominantly on Indonesia, with some work on China. Her research often incorporates the techniques of experimental economics.

Projects she is currently working on include: 1) How natural disasters affect people's risk attitudes (using experimental data collected from 160 Indonesian villages); 2) The impact of mis-targetted programs on crime; and 3) The behavioural impact of China's One Child policy.

Professor Cameron is also interested in program evaluation and is a principal investigator of a World Bank/Gates Foundation randomised evaluation of an Indonesian sanitation program which is being implemented at scale across rural East Java.
