University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, Department of Economics

The Department of Economics currently consists of 37 professors of economic, mathematical, statistical, historical and sociological disciplines.

The Economics Department has ranked first in the research evaluation exercise of the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia covering all its Departments for the years 2001-2005.

In the national CIVR evaluations the Economics-Statistics area of the University, constituted mainly by the Department, came out with first place among the middle-sized universities.

According to the site econphd.econwiki.com, rankings, the Department is the third in Italy in the Macroeconomics area.

Since 2000, the CAPP (Centre of Analysis for Public Policies) has been based in the department. The Centre is patronised also by scholars external to the Department itself, and sustains research into social and fiscal policies, focusing particularly on the study of distributive effects.

RECent (Center for Economic Research) was constituted in 2007 as a departmental research center. It also includes external scholars. Its mission is to promote research, at the international level, on the business fluctuations and growth, in a macroeconomic, microeconomic, and statistical-econometric perspective.
