The Society for the Advancement of Behavioral Economics (SABE), the International Association for Research in Economics & Psychology (IAREP), and the International Confederation for the Advancement of Behavioral Economics and Economic Psychology (ICABEEP) invite you to join their next international interdisciplinary conference in Atlanta, Georgia, USA, on July 25-29. The deadline for submitting a paper is April 15, 2013.

The conference will be held on the Clayton State University (CSU) campus, and is hosted by the College of Business, College of Arts and Sciences, and the Center for Research on Economic Sustainability and Trends (CREST). CSU is a senior unit of the University System of Georgia and home to the world-famous chamber music venue Spivey Hall. CSU is the only university in the country adjacent to both State and National Archives.

Call for papers

We invite research papers and posters as well as full sessions (4 presentations) for possible inclusion in the 2013 International Joint Conference of the Society for the Advancement of Behavioral Economics (SABE), the International Association for Research in Economic Psychology (IAREP), and the International Confederation for the Advancement of Behavioral Economics and Economic Psychology (ICABEEP). These meetings bring together hundreds of scholars from around the world, providing a platform for interdisciplinary discussions and initiate interdisciplinary collaborations. This year, we are bringing economics and psychology together in the wake of the financial crisis. One of the many lessons from the experience of the recent financial crisis is the renewed attention to the importance of the role of socio-economic norms, regulatory behavior, and cognitive processes that shape financial and economic decisions. Theoretical, empirical, and experimental studies that shed light on human behavior (broadly defined) facilitates our understanding of the why and how of a societal and global happening such as the financial crisis. Some possible topics are as follows:

Announcing this list of topics does not imply exclusion of other areas of inquiry. We welcome all your original scholarly work in Economics, Psychology, Sociology, all fields of Business, and beyond, especially those with a focus on behavioral and interdisciplinary approach to the subject matter.

Submission

To submit your abstract, follow these steps:
On the conference website: http://www.clayton.edu/2013-sabe-iarep-icabeep-conference, click on My Account at the top right, then click on Register to open an account (no payment required). You will receive an email confirming your account. Click on the link in that email and log onto the conference website. On top of the registration page choose Add Abstract/Poster/Paper, specify the general and specific categories of your work, and upload your abstract in PDF format. An abstract is between 300 to 500 words and includes the main goal/research question, methodology, and findings/ recommendations/applications. Students should choose Student Competition Submission if they want to enter this competition; winners will receive awards from organizing societies. Submission system is open now, and will close on April 15, 2013. The review process starts immediately after submission on a first come first serve basis and decisions of accept/reject will be posted on the conference website no later than May 15, accessible on My Account.

Please have your authors upload their abstracts on the conference website (instructions above). The session organizer shall send an email to co-chairs listing the papers & authors for her/his session. Session papers are approved by the session organizer and the acceptance of session means acceptance of its papers.

Free Workshops

“Getting Published” Workshop

So you’ve finally finished your draft and have gotten good feedback – now what? Join a panel of editors from leading journals and publishing houses to learn what the journal reviewers and book publishers are looking for. What characteristics will get an article past the editor’s desk? What do you do when you get the reviews back? All conference participants are welcome, though we would especially encourage graduate students and young faculty to attend. SABE/IAREP Workshop for New Researchers

This workshop is available to young scholars who have a submitted a paper to this conference (First priority to PhD students or newly minted PhDs). Each young scholar will be assigned a senior scholar to comment on her/his paper and will be given the opportunity to present the core of her/his finding as well as to discuss their research work both among themselves and with senior researchers. Each young researcher will have 5 minutes to present, senior scholars will provide 10 minutes of comments. The workshop concludes an open discussion. Complete papers MUST be available to all participants at least 3 weeks prior to the workshop. Participants are expected to present to the regular meeting. (Contact: Morris Altman, [email protected])
