The 25th Annual Conference of the European Association for Evolutionary Political Economy (EAEPE), "Beyond Deindustrialization: The Future of Industries" will take place at the University Paris Nord/ 13 University Campus Bobigny, on 7th– 9th November 2013.

The conference will be located in a renovated industrial site in Bobigny, a close northern suburb of Paris. For decades, deindustrialization has been a major concern in OECD countries. The global crisis has certainly made the situation even more critical. At the same time, a revival and a renewal of the discussion on industrial policies has been observed in a context where waves of technical progress are expected to be better used to promote the emergence of new industries, boosting employment and preserving environment. Governments, when they do not see austerity as the only way to reduce their debt and get out of the present lasting crisis, are trying to design policies to gain the best possible positions, in more or less cooperative ways, for their own country in the evolving international division of labour. The EAEPE’s annual conference 2013 will be a platform to exchange ideas and results in both theoretical and empirical research works on institutional changes and policy design at all levels of implementation. It will echo and feed all the current debates on possible ways of promoting a new future for industries.
In plenary sessions at the beginning and the end of the conference keynote speakers will address the theme of the conference and EU policy experts will discuss the main challenges.

Call for papers

All scholars are invited to submit their contribution on the conference theme of this year, or on usual topics covered by EAEPE’s research areas (see http://www.eaepe.org/node/7). Abstracts for papers to be presented can be submitted electronically at http://eaepe.org/conferences/
Each submission should specify either one of EAEPE’s research areas or indicate that it contributes to the conference theme.
Abstracts should have a length of at least 300 words (minimum) and 750 words (maximum), and should provide name, email and (if possible) affiliation(s) of the author(s), along with the closest name and code of the EAEPE’s research areas (again see the EAEPE web site www.eaepe.org).
Authors are also invited to propose special sessions (4 abstracts).
PhD special sessions will also be organized. PhD students will not have to pay conference fee
