PhD position in Neuroeconomics at the Universität Heidelberg (Germany)

The Alfred-Weber-Institute for Economics together with the Psychological Institute at the University of Heidelberg and the Institute of Cognitive and Clinical Neuroscience, Central Institute of Mental Health Mannheim offer one Ph.D. position starting at March, 1st 2009. The position is initially for 2 years, but prolongation is possible.

The Ph.D. position is in a project on developmental neuroeconomics, comparing young and old subjects in their economic decision behaviour. The Ph.D. project will comprise behavioural experiments and fMRI studies. The successful candidate will become part of a team of researchers from psychology, economics and cognitive neuroscience. His/her tasks will include the adaptation and development of paradigms from behavioural economics and cognitive psychology to specific questions related to age differences in decision making. There are no teaching duties.

Formal requirements are a degree in psychology, cognitive neuroscience or economics. Furthermore, good analytical skills and an interest and the willingness to learn the necessary skills from the other disciplines are indispensable. The successful candidate must have the willingness to work in an interdisciplinary team of psychologists, economists and neuroscientists. Computer skills (Matlab, SPM, Presentation) and experience with behavioural experiments or fMRI are of advantage but not a necessary condition.
