This section collects rankings of social science peer-reviewed journals based on the Impact factor computed by the Institute for Scientific Information (ISI) of the Thomson Reuters Corporation within its Journal Citation Reports. Information on the ISI Impact Factor (IF) is drawn from each journal's web site. Note that every journal indexed by Thomson Reuters reports its IF and ranking on the home page. Information on the Impact Factor are available on Wikipedia.

Data have been collected on the web through the following procedure:

a) Starting from a series of listings provided by various sources (e.g. Wikipedia list of academic journals and RePEc list of economics journals), the journals' web sites have been browsed to see their ISI Impact factor which is generally reported on the home page. The sources of this information are the journals' web sites.

b) Journals have then been ordered according to their ISI Impact factor, which is therefore taken as the main criterion of the classification. Of course this is a questionable choice, so critiques, comments and suggestions are most welcome.
