Ermanno Tortia is researcher at the University of Trento, Department of Economics. His research is focused on the economics of cooperation, on social enterprises and non-profit organizations, with particular attention paid to labour economics and local development. He has taught Labour Economics at the University of Bologna, Faculty of Economics. Currently, Dr. Tortia teaches Instituional Economics and Economics of Cooperative Enterprises and Non-Profit Organizations at the University of Trento. He collaborates with Euricse, is a member of the Faculty Council and works closely with the Ph.D. Program in Local Development and Global Dynamics at the University of Trento. He is also visiting fellow at the University of Stirling (UK), School of Applied Social Sciences. His most recent publications include: “Organizational variety in market economies and the role of cooperative and social enterprises: A plea for economic pluralism”, with Borzaga and Depedri, Journal of Co-operative Studies (2011), and “Worker well-being and perceived fairness: Survey-based findings from Italy”, The Journal of Socio-Economics, (2008).
