Theme and call for papers

ntrepreneurship and innovation have been recognized as major determinants of economic growth in most developed countries. Increased entrepreneurial activity and innovation have resulted in an environment of sustained economic growth and controlled unemployment in North America over the last twenty years. Academic researchers and policy makers in Europe as well as Asia are realizing the potential of entrepreneurship to improve growth rates and reverse the increasing levels of unemployment. This joint conference aims to bring together work on sources of entrepreneurship, the challenges in enabling and sustaining entrepreneurship and innovation, and issues in entrepreneurship culture. There shall also be special sessions on entrepreneurial situation in Europe and Asia.

The conference will address the following topics:

  • Knowledge sources of entrepreneurship (e.g. from science, employees or users)
  • Human capital challenges for enabling and sustaining entrepreneurial activity and innovation
  • Issues in entrepreneurship culture
  • Assessment of the spatial distribution and local clustering of innovative entrepreneurship and analysis of its impact on economic performance
  • Assessment of differences and similarities between Europe and Asia in the industrial structure of entrepreneurship and its impact on regional and national economic performance
  • Assessment of entrepreneurship and innovation policies in Europe and Asia

We invite papers that deal with these issues.

Paper submission

Scholars who aim to participate at this conference are invited to submit a full paper by July 15, 2007.

Travel and accomodation

I. For participants whose papers have been accepted for presentation

Accommodation

The organizing institutes shall arrange accommodation for paper presenters at the Guest Houses of the Indian Institute of Science and at hotels close to the Indian Institute of Science Campus. If your paper is accepted and you wish to organize accommodation on your own, please inform the organizers.

Travel

The organizing institutes are in a position to cover the travel expenses of invited speakers and only a selected number of paper presenters.

II. For doctoral students and research scholars

Please note that we have limited grants that cover travel and accommodation. Register on this website and send a brief CV with research interests to by 1 September 2007. We would be able to inform you if we are able to cover your costs by 15 September 2007.
