Globalisation and Social Transformation : The Indian Experience

The conference will take place at the Tata Institute of Social Sciencesin Mumbai. It seeks to provide a platform to academicians, activists, practitioners and researchers from multiple disciplines nationally and internationally to discuss and debate the challenges of Globalisation and the ensuing social transformation. While the conference seeks to locate the deliberations that are India focused, the aim is to draw lessons for global society. The larger goal is to enhance understanding, identify newer areas and methods of intervention and policy advocacy tools for dealing with globalisation and social transformation issues (Photo by Lecercle from Flickr).

The Conference will have Plenaries and several Parallel sessions based on the identified eight broad themes

We are pleased to invite interested individuals to participate in the Conference as:

  • Paper Presenter

Note for Paper Presenters

Those interested in participating as a paper presenter are to submit an abstract of the proposed original paper before the deadline only in the prescribed format. Papers based on themes of gender, equity, socio-cultural and religious minorities that cut across the conference sub-themes are particularly welcome. Scholars whose abstracts are selected will be invited to submit complete papers in January , 2012 and for presentation during the Conference. Please note that all the scholars have to register for the Conference by using the registration form. Accommodation will be provided for outstation scholars whose abstracts are selected for oral presentations during the Conference.

Guidelines for Submission of abstracts

  • All abstracts must be submitted in English

  • The overall length of the abstract is 350 words.

  • All abstracts to be accompanied by not more than 4 keywords

  • Abstracts have to be submitted under any of the eight themes. In case of the cross cutting themes; the paper presenters maybe allotted a theme by TISS Conference Committee.

  • Abstracts to be submitted by email to pjnc@tiss.edu in the prescribed format available here at before the deadline.
  • While submitting your abstracts , please mention the theme under which the abstract is submitted in the subject field of your email.

Accommodation will be provided for outstation scholars whose abstracts are selected for oral presentations.

Note For Delegates:

Delegates can register for the Conference by filling up the registration form available here.

Registration Fee for participation : Rs. 2000/- this will include meals on the three days of the conference and a conference kit. Current students and faculty members of TISS have to complete the registration process for participation but are exempted from paying the registration fee.
