The 4th Transatlantic Workshop on the Economics of Crime will take place in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, on October 5 2012. This workshop continues the sequence of Economics of Crime workshops in Paris (2009), Bonn (2010), and Torino (2011). The workshop will consist of two keynote lectures - given by Jens Ludwig (University of Chicago) and Ron Clarke (Rutgers University) - and 12 contributed papers. We aim at bringing together researchers to present and discuss their work, allowing for an in-depth interaction between those working on the empirical and theoretical analysis of crime and illegal behavior.

The workshop will consist of two keynote lectures – given by Jens Ludwig (University of Chicago) and Ron Clarke (Rutgers University) – and 12 contributed papers. A suggested (but not exhaustive) list of topics covers:
- Social costs of crime and law enforcement
- Cost-effective strategies of combating crime and disorder
- White collar crime
- Social interaction and illegal behavior
- Crime and immigration
- Historical evidence on crime
- Victim precaution

Submission

We invite researchers to submit a paper (in PDF-format) by sending an e-mail to [email protected]. The submission deadline is July 15, 2012. Authors of accepted papers will be notified by August 1. We will provide accommodation and reimburse economy travel costs for paper presenters.
